Choosing to come to Animas was a hard decision for me to make. It took a long time for me to finally decide on the school that I wanted to attend. What was appealing to me about Animas was their culture and how they teach. I had never been to a project based school prior to Animas. I also admired the culture of excellence and the close student-teacher relationships. I knew that I could benefit from Animas because of the life skills that I was sure that I would acquire. Why it was difficult for me to finally settle on AHS is because I was worried that Animas wouldn’t fit my academic needs. If I went to DHS I would have been placed in AP, advanced, and honors classes. Animas does not offer those classes. I was concerned about how my college application would look coming from Animas. What would make my application stand out from someone’s application from another high school that had more classes and more advanced classes on it? My final decision was Animas because I thought it would provide me with the material that I needed to grow. What I needed to grow on most was in areas like public speaking, collaboration, advocacy, etc. I knew that I could gain all of these important and valuable skills from Animas.
